Rainbow Beach, QLD

December, 2015

Our little home over Christmas, Rainbow Beach proved to be an excellent jumping off point for beach adventures. Home to the world’s largest (unsubstantiated) sand blow, it provides some epic views of the legendary Rainbow Cliffs and Double Island Point, and the hinterland on the other side.

Here, the beach is the main highway for humans, 4×4’s, and horses alike. You can get to nearby Noosa around the end of the point faster than the main road inland, as long as you’re mindful of the tides. The local pub has a giant “wall of shame” for cars that have been stranded on the rocks or stuck in the wet sand at high tide- not ideal, mate.

Andrew had also successfully domesticated a kookaburra bird named Stanley, who would wait patiently for crackers out back. Kookaburra’s sound like they’re laughing at you, and the first few nights I definitely thought there were monkeys in the jungle out back. Turns out, just cheeky birds πŸ™‚

Nothing like a Christmas beachy paradise BBQ in the middle of December!
